Our Winery Origin Story
The first time I ever saw Napa Valley was in 1982 while attending a medical conference. I had started collecting wines 10 years prior and was already a member of several wine societies in New York City with a growing cellar. I was mesmerized by the physical beauty and spirit of wine country and made a commitment to myself to return, live, and possibly grow and make wine.
After retiring from my medical practice in urology for 27 years at New York University Medical Center, I decided it was time to live out my dreams and passion.
In 2000, after two years of searching for a vineyard home site on Howell Mountain in Angwin, California, I finally found a property that had been owned by a single owner since the mid-1920s.
The 21-acre parcel I acquired included an existing red brick farmhouse and land that had been planted with apples and walnuts.
After completing a period of due diligence, I planted my first Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard of 3.5 acres the following spring.
In Spring 2004, I planted a second vineyard on a site 100 feet higher than my earlier vineyard, at 2000 feet above the valley, which I refer to as the Knoll.
Every aspect of my winemaking process, from fruit picked in my vineyard to production and barrel storage, has been carefully researched and refined.
My goal is to offer Howell Mountain single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon crafted for the most critical wine aficionados.
